How to Pick a Theme for Your Kids’ Bedrooms
Elementary-aged children can differ in their likes and dislikes from one day to the next. Finding themes for elementary aged rooms can be difficult due to their changing behaviors what their mood is. However with a little help you can find the perfect way to decorate your child’s room and pick a theme that they’ll love. Here are some different themes you can use for your elementary-aged child.
· Favorite Movies. Every kid has a favorite movie, so something you can think about when trying to find a good theme for the bedroom is to think about the movie. There’s a lot to think about when it comes to decorating a bedroom so if it’s possible try and find the book that goes along with movie so you can get ideas on coordinating and finding the right colors, as well as finding the movie characters. It is possible sometimes to find bedding that goes with specific movies. If you can’t find it at a store like Wal Mart or Target, you might want to try broadening your search to the internet. The internet has a much wider range of availability and you can find just about anything you’re looking online these days. However, if the movie print is unavailable for kids bedding or window treatments you can always just use the coordinating colors to match the colors of the main characters in the movie. Many times wallpaper stores will carry borders of all kinds to help you tie your theme together also.
· Favorite books. If you’re child doesn’t have a favorite movie you can use their favorite book as inspiration. There are hundreds of books out there, and since kids love to read go ahead and find out what they love and use that as your theme for your bedroom. It may be a little harder finding kids bedding and other accessories to match but you will always be able to find coordinating colors, borders, and small accessories to match what you’re trying to do in the bedroom.
These are just a couple of general ideas. Of course there are more gender-specific themes you can use as well. Depending on the age of your child some of the bedroom themes will probably be fads so be careful how you choose your theme or you’ll end up having to re-do everything in a couple of years once they grow out of it.
Themes for girls
· High School Musical. This is definitely a fad so if you choose a High School Musical theme you will probably end up changing it before they are out of elementary school. With that being said, this movie has hit the top of the list for pre-teens and there would be nothing cooler than having your bedroom based on this musical.
· Sports Themes. If you have an athletic girl which some of us do, you might want to consider decorating the room with some sports wear. When you think of sports many people think of blues and reds, but there are plenty of cute girl colors out there to help make a sports bedroom for a girl.
Themes for boys
· All about sports. Of course the sports theme will also fit with an elementary aged boy as much or more than it would for a girl. Boys love to play sports and there are plenty of ideas out there and things to choose from.
· Space. Kids love to learn about the planets and having their very own solar system in their bedroom can make for a cool theme for little boys. It’s also easy to find accessories, bedding, and other things to really make the most of this theme in the bedroom.
These themes for kids rooms barely even cracks the surface of themes you could potentially use. For more ideas, look online for fun and practical bunk beds that are now available in a wide range of themes, ask your child what they like, or browse magazines at your public library.
